Currently we are seeing a lot of steel core/jacketed ammunition, due to its low price and availability.  Allow us to explain why we don't allow it here.  Most often we see Wolf, but other brands coming from Europe occasionally also use steel in their bullets, like Sellier & Bellot.  When there is steel in a bullet, instead of copper jacketing or a lead center, the round is more akin to an antiquated armor piercing round, and due to our Armor Plate trap system, steel rounds present an extremely dangerous ricochet hazard.  Our main concern is your safety.  Also because of its nature, it is possible repeated use of these rounds can damage our equipment.

To check whether or not rounds you may own, or consider purchasing are steel, simply hold a magnet to the tip of the bullet (not the casing).  If it sticks to the tip of the bullet, there is steel in that round.  Most outdoor ranges have no problems with this type of bullet.  We always check ammunition, and we have no problem with steel or aluminum casings, just the bullet.
